Marks of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church

I was looking at what would come up if I searched online for the “one true church”.  Wow! So many churches claim to be and draw you in on their website but how do you know if it’s the truth?  There is something called the four marks of the one true church.

One – One church, not many branches or splinters.  Unity through its only founder, Jesus.

Holy – Unfailingly holy through the Holy Spirit.

Catholic – This means “Universal”.  The Mass (service) is the same no matter where you go in the world and is all connected back to Jesus and St. Peter.  Universal because Jesus is present in the Church.

Apostolic – Has Apostolic Succession from Jesus all the way down to the leader today without any break in the line of succession.

The only church on earth that has all of these marks is the Roman Catholic Church.

No other church can make these claims.  Some have one or two marks but not all of them.

“And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it.  I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loosed on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”  (Matt. 16: 18-19)  This verse refers to St. Peter being the first Pope of the Catholic Church and the authority Jesus gave the church.
