Propaganda, against the one true Church, in my mailbox.

Propaganda, prop·a·gan·da, präpəˈɡandə/
  1. derogatory
information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view.

I opened up my mailbox and found a small book without much explanation as to what it was about.  I put the author into a search engine and found that the source of this book came from a Protestant faith and that the author regularly sends out literature against the Catholic Church.  Propaganda can be found in the strangest places.  I have seen it in public bathrooms, laundromats and in restaurants among other unexpected places.  There is a lot of extremely negative reference in it to the Papacy and the Pope of the Catholic Church.  There are references to the “Beast”, claiming that the Catholic Church and the Pope are the “Beast” himself.  There are a lot of half-truths and misunderstandings in it.  Many times you will hear them refer to the Church as the “whore of Babylon”  These things are NOT true.

This doesn’t make me angry but makes me feel so deeply saddened that someone would take the time to put this book together and put it out in a mass mailing to everyone’s home (where they should feel safe from being bombarded by propaganda), when they don’t even have the whole truth. I wish they would spend the time learning about the truth.  I feel so sad for this person or faith who don’t understand the truth of Jesus and His Church.  This is exactly why I started this blog; to extinguish the many misunderstandings of the Church.  I want you to have the truth of the only Church that Jesus established.

There are so many who write and pass on propaganda with half-truths and misunderstandings in it and typically it isn’t against other Protestant churches but instead focus their offense against the Catholic Church.  By passing this on, these people are taking away the choice of others to choose the one true Church of Jesus.  They are telling others who are searching for the truth what to choose by persuasion and deceit.  This is breaking the 8th Commandment of God, “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor”.  Isn’t Jesus also our neighbor?  They are passing on falsehood about Jesus.

What would this do to Jesus?  Imagine how this would make Him feel.  He established His one true Church and died for us but there are some people who are trying to keep others out of the Church He worked so hard to establish.  This has to be disheartening and heart breaking for Him to see others led away from the truth.

I urge you to be careful of what literature and other information you are consuming in your search for the truth of Jesus and His one, holy, Catholic and apostolic Church.  Be sure of your source and that you are getting the actual truth.  One suggestion of mine would be to go to a Catholic Church or Catholic book/religious store and purchase the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which is all teaching based on the Bible and what Jesus and the Apostles taught from the very beginning.  Listen to a Catholic radio station for more information.  Better yet, go to the Catholic Church and attend RCIA classes.  Get your information from a reliable source.  If it sounds derogatory against the Catholic Church, then it is not the truth of the Church.  The Catholic Church is beautiful of course because Jesus built it.  It couldn’t be anything else.  So when you hear of derogatory information, ask yourself, are they telling the truth or trying to knock down Jesus’ Church?  Don’t let them win by leading you away from the truth that Jesus wants you to have.  He’s calling you Home.
