Scam in the mail

My family and friends and I have received these solicitations in the mail.  Beware of the St. Matthew’s Churches from Tulsa, Oklahoma.  These are NOT Catholic nor are they legitimateThey are scamming people using the image of Christ and His name for their monetary benefit.

This is the “prayer rug” the scammers are using to get your money.

They send out a “prayer rug” (pictured above) for you to put under your mattress and to pray on, then ask for you to send it back to them with “seed money” for you to get your prayers answered.  God doesn’t make payment of money a condition for your prayers to be answered.  You can pay almsgiving as a sacrifice but it is not contingent on getting your prayers answered.  The man who heads this scam has a $2.2 million house in California.  They don’t pay taxes because they are under the guise of being a church.  If you receive this in the mail, please don’t send any money because they will bombard you with more solicitations for more money.  Just toss it in the garbage and be sure to tell everyone else to watch out.

The best way to get your prayers answered is to pray to Jesus before the Blessed Sacrament.  He will give you peace and He knows your grief and it won’t cost you any “seed money”.
